Winterfield Stories is an attempt to capture the stories and images of my grandmother, Gertrude Nederhoed Boven, who grew up on a farm in Winterfield township, Michigan. Over the last several years, I’ve had the good fortune to hear her stories firsthand. Her stories have always moved me. They have depth. They have humor. They narrate the evolution of a woman, a family, a culture, an era. I wanted to share them with others.
