The stories collected below came from conversations with my grandmother, Gertrude Nederhoed Boven, over the course of several years. At times we were on the phone. At times we swapped stories over the dinner table. On lucky occasions I was by her side as we looked through her photo albums. I hope you enjoy her stories as much as I have.
